On the evening of March 15, the special lecture titled "The Future of Metallurgy," delivered by Professor Guo Xueyi, commenced at the Hexintang Hall of Xiaoxiang Campus, Central South University, with simultaneous online streaming. Attendees included Guo Xueyi, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Central South University; Cheng Qiongwen, Party Secretary of the School of Metallurgy and Environment; Zhu Zhongping, Deputy Party Secretary; Wang Qinmeng, Vice Dean; class advisors; parent representatives; and all first-year undergraduate students of the Class of 2024. The event was presided over by Deputy Party Secretary Zhu Zhongping.

At the beginning of the lecture, Vice President Guo Xueyi delivered an insightful and comprehensive report on "The Future of Metallurgy." Starting with the historical development of metallurgy, he analyzed the discipline's critical role in national development by highlighting the strategic value of key metals and the importance of resource security. He emphasized that intelligent metallurgy is an inevitable trend for the future, integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data to drive the industry toward green, low-carbon, circular, intelligent, and high-end development. He encouraged students to remain grounded, aim high, integrate into Central South University, study metallurgy, and realize their life aspirations.

During the interactive Q&A session, students actively raised questions about the future of metallurgy, the integration of theory and practice, career prospects, and research planning. Professor Guo Xueyi addressed each question in detail, urging students to build a solid professional foundation, stay updated on industry trends, embrace new technologies, and contribute to the wave of innovation in metallurgical science and technology.

Following this, Party Secretary Cheng Qiongwen provided a detailed introduction to the school's basic profile, academic directions, student training models, and future development goals. He underscored the school's strengths in faculty resources, scientific achievements, and teaching facilities, which provide students with abundant learning resources and vast development opportunities, helping them grow into industry leaders with both innovative and practical capabilities.
